  • Enable printing THINWORX applications on any printer available from client, including local printers and network printers.
  • A print solution that was not dependant on maintaining a large set of printer drivers on the server.
  • Increase print speed, especially for larger print jobs.

THINWORX Version 4.1

Customers running version 4.1 will be able to take advantage of THINWORX multi-screen support. THINWORX detects the video adapter configuration of the client device. It then properly sets and manages a map between the user’s RDP session virtual screen and physical screens. Users can move/resize/minimize/maximize remote application windows seamlessly on different screens connected to the client device.

THINWORX version 4.1 also provides improved Seamless Windows performance.

THINWORX Version 4.0

New features and improvements:
THINWORX version 4.0 introduces a number of significant new features including:

Seamless Remote Application Windows
THINWORX applications running remotely on a server now support seamless remote application windows. What does this mean? THINWORX applications will have the same appearance and features as local desktop applications. Any opened THINWORX applications get the same taskbar button that local applications have and are used to minimize, restore, maximize or close applications.

Shared Session and User Session Management
With THINWORX V4.0 each server requires only a single RDP session per user, regardless of how many applications that user has running. This simplifies system management, reduces system overhead and improves overall performance.

User session management (park, resume and terminate)
A user can suspend their sessions through the “PARK” function, which will disconnect sessions from the server but will leave applications running on servers. After a session is parked, the “RESUME” option will be shown in place of the “PARK” option, allowing the user to resume their session(s). The end user can resume a parked session from their existing machine, or move to another machine (i.e. logout and move to another PC / thin client) and resume the session(s). The “TERMINATE” option will close all running applications and logoff sessions.

User Session Based Application Security Management
THINWORX V4.0 has added security to assure IT Managers that only approved applications can be invoked by an end user. Launching a supplemental application from within an application (example getting to the DOS prompt from a WORD document) can now be controlled by the THINWORX system administrator.

Content Redirection
THINWORX version 4.0 delivers both security and ease of access to end user files systems. End users can be granted access in THINWORX v 4.0 to a customized Windows Explorer view. Users can then browse public folder on the remote server along with all local file systems. Files can be opened along with their associated application on the remote server as if they were local.

Customized Wallpaper
THINWORX version 4.0 enables customers to create custom wallpaper backgrounds.

Administrator Level Session Management
THINWORX version 4.0 includes a new tool that allows THINWORX administrators to view and organize key information on all THINWORX sessions. The administrator can also send messages to specific end users (example upcoming system maintenance)

THINWORX Version 3.3

New features and improvements:

  • Supports Windows CE 6.0 based thin client device as well as Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008 client.
  • Minimum of administration required. THINWORX clients can be easily and seamlessly deployed to thin client devices.
  • Delivers Windows CE 6.0 based thin client with almost same portal and manager features as other Windows OS THINWORX Client.
  • Ease of Use improvements (i.e. click “enter” key to submit on login interface; “THINWORX Client” title bar auto hide & show)

THINWORX Version 3.2

New features and improvements:
THINWORX 3.2 delivers significant improvements to the functionality and usability of the THINWORX server based computing solution, including:

Session Management
THINWORX offers real time tracking and monitoring of a user’s RDP session; this provides users the ability to view current opened sessions, view terminated sessions that have locked up due to RDP bugs, or force a session closed that was not terminated properly by the user.

Session Resumption
The THINWORX Application launching process is done according to the current opened sessions in the farm; this provides the ability to park a session and resume it at a later time or from another location allowing a session to be migrated between locations.

RDP Session Logoff Bugfix
The Microsoft RDP protocol has a problem with sessions hanging on certain Windows 2003 Operating Systems in conjunction with certain RDP sessions.

THINWORX has provided a workaround so sessions should no longer stall after the application has been closed. This feature is based on real-time RDP session tracking, monitoring, and managing.

Application Parameter Support
THINWORX allows any published application with parameters. This means users can publish contents or URL links directly to the portal.

New THINWORX Realm Recovery
THINWORX monitors the domain environment in real-time, controls the portal’s accessibility and provides a special ability to the administrator of a domain-based site to access and recover the site when the realm has lost connection to the Domain. This is useful in the event of power and/or network outages or any other interruption where THINWORX is led to believe the domain no longer exists and switches back to local mode.

RDP 6.1 Support
Support for Windows versions running the latest RDP 6.1 client, including Vista SP1 and XP SP3.

Third party enhanced Printing
THINWORX supports UniPrint v4 and ThinPrint.

THINWORX Documentation
New versions of the THINWORX Administration Guide and Quick Reference Guide have been released to include new feature documentation and provide further clarity and best practices to administrators setting up a THINWORX environment. These documents are now available for download.
